Growing up in East Prescott we can attest to its beauty and authenticity. This is true Prescott living. Locals living in Prescott for more than 30 years understand this area of town is special. With Washington elementary school sitting just on the corner, East Prescottonians have witnessed some of the most organic, locally founded traditions such as the annual trick or treat events on Mt Vernon and the 4th of July water wars. During the 70's and 80's, all the surrounding streets joined in with Mt Vernon to provide candy for the locals. It was only recently that the city stepped in to provide safety including armed police and blinding spotlights. The history of starting many of these traditions seem to stem from one or several families simply enjoying themselves. The 4th of July water wars, the Halloween trick or treat events, and even the Rodeo all began as fun activities.
